I love Tesla Coils
Twin Solid State Musical Tesla coils playing Mario Bros theme song at the 2007 Lightning on the Lawn Teslathon sponsored by DC Cox (Resonance Research Corp) in Baraboo WI.
The music that you hear is coming from the sparks that these two identical high power solid state Tesla coils are generating. There are no speakers involved. The Tesla coils stand 7 feet tall and are each capable of putting out over 12 foot of spark. They are spaced about 18 feet apart. The coils are controlled over a fiber optic link by a single laptop computer. Each coil is assigned to a midi channel which it responds to by playing notes that are programed into the computer software. These coils were constructed by Steve Ward and Jeff Larson. Video was captured by Terry Blake.

More Hadouken!
I felt bad for putting up a post about Hadouken! and only showing a below par song. So even though I still know most people who read this will hate them, here’s a better one of their songs:
Hadouken! - ‘Leap of Faith’
I don’t know why, but after having my rib-cage smooshed to bits by an insanity of bass in a small tent at Reading this year I’ve had a real soft-spot for Hadouken! They are so young and really seem to be doing something a bit different. Some of their tracks are insanely catchy too. I know a lot of my friends won’t like this, but I likes what I likes, and I likes Hadouken!
It’s not exactly the Hadouken! I’ve come to love. It’s far less in-your-face bassy and a little bit, well… emo sadly. I still like it once you get past the first minute or so, but it’s no ‘Liquid Lives’ or ‘That Boy That Girl’.
Theremin!
I know it’s only a week til my birthday now so I shouldn’t be buying anything, but I knew no-one would buy me this. For a start it was quite expensive, but I’ve wanted one for about 22 years now so it’s safe to say I’m going to love it.

It’s a Moog EtherWave. I am so excited! :oD I’ve wanted one for as long as I can remember. I’ve got 2 Stylophones that I was obsessed with when I was about 8 and this is going to be even more fun.
The way I look at it, it is very difficult to learn, but even if it takes me years to play it properly, at least it’s dead easy to make weird noises on it. :o)
Here’s a couple of videos if you have no idea what I’m talking about:
