No preaching, just some links to donate:

Google Tsunami Relief Page

Network For Good

IRFC

DEC

The DEC site is being hammered right now as they’ve only just started their appeal (I was quite surprised this morning that there was no mention of the Tsunami on their site at all). The individual sites might be easier to get to:

Action Aid

British Red Cross

CAFOD

Care International

Christian Aid

Merlin

Oxfam International

Oxfam UK

Help the Aged

Save the Children

Tear Fund

World Vision

If you are in the UK, you can donate by phoning 0870 60 60 900.

If you feel like making a New Year’s Resolution, there are worse ideas out there than signing up to:

Charities Aid Foundation

Just Giving

They Made Me Do It…

…why must I suffer mortar bombs every night of the year. Should I be grateful that tonight’s fireworks started before 23:00? Probably not as they will still go on until 02:00.

I would just like to say, if I go on a major killing spree, the wankers down my road with their constant flash-bang bombs made me do it.

Well, 2 people that influenced my musical trends both dead in a year.

Shit.

Can’t say much more. Spent much of work hoping it was a hoax, but knowing it really wasn’t…

RIP Darrell.

Been neglecting the LJ again. Sorry.

Not much has happened… except a couple of weekends ago I did something very strange. It worried me a bit :o/

Me & Chris had just watched Moulin Rouge, we were having a laugh, I said something mean to him so he tickled my feet to get his own back. One minute I’m laughing… then I feel my lip start to quiver, I panic feeling totally confused. Drag a blanket over my face & hide. It takes Chris a minute to realise I’m crying. Then the floodgates opened and I sobbed (and I mean full-on sobbed) for about 5 minutes solidly. Then fell asleep exhausted :os

It was such a horrible feeling, my brain didn’t know what to do. I assume I just really needed to cry, but… well, it was weird and freaked us both out.

I’m clearly addicted to UK Nova. I’m now a Power User :o/

This song (M83 - ‘Safe’) rox so much it’s untrue. Quite possibly the most emotional I’ve ever been just listening to a piano (and kids watching fireworks).

It works! Yayness!! :oD

Soooo, I now have my old Shuttle SpaceWalker sat in my living room giving off a lovely blue glow, downloading lots of TV proggies I can’t watch cos I only have 4 channels with awful reception. God bless UK Nova :o)

I can keep an eye on it through an IRC Bot during the day, and VNC on with my laptop/PC when I’m at home. I have a web-page config thing too, must sort that out with No-IP, so I can view it from work. This rawx. \o/

p.s. Before anyone goes off on an anti-pirating one. I only use UK Nova. So I only download TV programs/Radio Shows that aren’t available to buy. I see it like borrowing a Recording off a mate that has better TV reception than me. So ner ;op

W00t… ish…

I managed to do stuff so my day off didn’t feel entirely wasted :oD

I only did a little hoovering in the end. Just couldn’t be arsed for the most part. Didn’t dye my hair at all, so it looks like I’ll either have a mad rush to do it on Friday before I go out… or I’ll just spend another week with bad roots & no bloooo :o/

So, what I did manage to get done was:

  • Dusted off the old Shuttle SpaceWalker (SV25)
  • Removed the un-used WiFi card from my PC
  • Found the PCI riser for the Shuttle
  • Installed the WiFi card into the Shuttle
  • Found the old PC133 SDRAM from my old PC
  • Put old RAM into Shuttle
  • Booted up Shuttle - it worked! \o/
  • Installed various drivers & FileZilla onto Shuttle
  • Started getting the last bits of data off the old HDD
  • Ordered 120GB HDD
  • Ordered a new kettle-lead (had to nick one from an old printer)
  • Ordered a USB 2.0 HDD enclosure
  • Now, the plan is to:

  • Rip out the old 2GB drive from the Shuttle
  • Put new 120GB drive into Shuttle
  • Plug into my monitor’s 2nd input
  • Stick spare Windows 2000 Pro on there
  • Install all the drivers
  • Install FileZilla
  • Install Ultr@VNC (can you see where this is heading?)
  • Install Azureus/ABC (not decided yet, but some Bit-Torrent client)
  • Test Ultr@VNC from my PC & the PowerBook
  • Move Shuttle over to the living-room
  • Boot up
  • Remote On
  • Log in to UK Nova
  • Set off downloads
  • Relax…
  • Then:

  • Use HDD enclosure to get the data off the 200GB drive for the HTPC (AKA “Forever Work In Progress”)
  • Burn LOADS of data to DVD to clear down main PC’s HDD (cluttered is an understatement, should reformat… but can’t be arsed just yet)
  • Use HDD enclosure to format 2GB drive (NTFS I guess)
  • Use 2GB HDD in enclosure to farm around LARGE files as needed
  • Hoorah! At last I have made plans that are easily do-able AND I get to recycle old hardware! :oD
